The All Electric Home is Here!

The All Electric Home is Here!

But Most Solar Designs Haven't Caught Up

Today’s modern electric home is becoming an active participant in the grid, and for good reason.

When devices like hot water units, air conditioners, EV chargers, pool pumps and batteries are integrated and controlled properly, they stop being just appliances — they become powerful, flexible energy assets.

They become Consumer Energy Resources (CERs).

Most homeowners are only just beginning this transition. Where they go next? That’s up to you.

You’re not just putting solar on a roof anymore.

You’re building a foundation for energy independence — and you’re the one expected to connect all the pieces.

That means navigating DNSP rules, customer expectations, and preparing the system for upgrades that haven’t even happened yet.

So how do you build a system that delivers today and five years from now?

You’re Not Just Installing Panels Anymore

You’re designing systems that:

  • Must stay compliant with ever-evolving DNSP rules

  • Span multi-brand, multi-phase, legacy and future technology.

  • Control energy flow down to the circuit

  • Deliver long-term value, not just kWh

To get it right, you need to build around four essential pillars. Miss one, and your installs might work today — but fail tomorrow.

It Starts with Four Core Pillars;

Compliance

Is More Than Just a Selfie

It’s No Secret — Compliance Is Getting Harder

Commissioning Inverters once took minutes, but is now a complex, multi-step process.

From CSIP protocols to dynamic exports and imports. The requirements keep shifting,
and your installs need to evolve with them.

Every job now demands:

  • Seamless DNSP communications

  • Real-time export and import control

  • Integration between brands and phases

  • Full-site visibility

And it’s only getting more complex. Staying compliant isn’t just about ticking boxes
It’s about delivering systems that adapt, communicate, and prove they’re operating
exactly as required.

Ever Found Yourself on Site Asking:

  • “How do I make legacy inverters compliant without replacing them?”

  • “How do I manage DNSP export limits across multiple brands?”

  • “How do I meet all these new requirements without rewiring?”

These aren’t just hypotheticals they’re now a reality for most installers.

And the cost of getting it wrong?

  • Installation delays

  • Repeat visits

  • Systems that can’t be turned on or under deliver

  • Blown out margins

Compliance is a moving target — your solution needs to keep up.

You’re no longer just connecting hardware. You’re integrating with the grid.

Flexibility

Design for Today and Whatever Comes Next

Old panels. Split-phase wiring. Batteries and inverters from different brands.
Now add EVs, remote loads, and rising customer expectations — this is your new normal.

But what happens when your system aren't flexible and can't evolve?

  • Complex wiring for every upgrade

  • Locked out of VPPs and smart energy plans

  • Zero export on half the gear just to stay compliant

Installers are facing:

  • DNSPs that only allow one point of communication

  • Tech that doesn’t talk to each other

  • Rigid systems that can’t grow with the site

If your system isn't flexible, you’re leaving future work and money on the table.

Control

Are You Maximising the Power You Generate — Or Letting It Slip Away?

With feed-in tariffs at all-time lows and battery warranties measured in megawatt hours, every discharge, export, and load decision counts. Control isn’t a luxury — it’s the difference between a profitable system and a problematic one.

Today’s installs aren’t just about generating energy — they’re about directing it to where it delivers the most value.

What’s Going Wrong on Real-World Sites?

  • Batteries dumping into hot water during DNSP off-peak events

  • Loads wired outside the monitored circuit to avoid it — but now you’ve lost visibility

  • Homeowners unknowingly burning through battery cycles on non-essential loads

  • No control over all inverters on site when participating in the wholesale market.

And When It Goes Wrong?

You get the call... Not the retailer.... Not the DNSP. YOU! But without control, there’s
not much you can do:

  • Energy is wasted

  • Battery life is shortened

  • Retail opportunities are missed

  • And you’re stuck troubleshooting issues that aren’t yours to fix

True control means:

  • Prioritising which loads your batteries discharge into

  • Curtail inverters

  • Controlling loads, inverters and batteries based on price

  • Protecting battery health by prioritising critical loads

  • Charging batteries when extreme weather events occur

  • Giving homeowners and installers confidence, clarity, and long-term value

Visibility

If You Can’t See It, You Can’t Support It — or Stand Behind It

“What energy plan should I be on?”
“Why is my bill higher this month?”
“Is my system even working?”

"Why didn't my system produce as much today, as yesterday?

These are the first questions your customer asks — and without full visibility, you’re left guessing.

And What Happens When You Can’t See the Whole Picture?

  • No insight into what loads are running and when

  • No way to explain performance issues when DNSP's reduce export

  • No warning when usage spikes, exports drop, or a new appliance throws the system off balance

  • No way to confirm your quoted performance — or defend your reputation

  • And lost savings! According to the ACC 80% of Aussies are on the wrong energy plan

And when customers feel left in the dark?
They question the system, They question the savings and They question you.

Visibility Is the Foundation of Trust

Installers rely on visibility to:

  • Troubleshoot quickly

  • Offer better support

  • Prove performance and protect margins

Homeowners rely on visibility to:

  • Understand how their system works

  • Optimise usage

  • Feel confident in what they’ve invested in

Without it:

  • You’re stuck fielding support calls with no answers

  • And your installs underdeliver — even if the system itself is working perfectly

So How Do You Deliver Systems With Compliance, Flexibility, Control and Visibility?

Whether you’re working with:

  • Legacy gear and mixed inverter brands

  • Split-phase and remote sub-boards

  • Evolving DNSP rules and dynamic exports

  • An EV charger in the shed and a hot water system on a different board

You need more than a meter. You need a platform.

Inverter Control

CATCH Control is compatible with approximately 80% of inverters on the market, giving you the flexibility to manage multiple inverter brands on a single site — all through one unified platform.

When acting as the energy meter for integrated inverters and batteries, CATCH Control takes command of these assets via a sophisticated control loop — seamlessly managing all Consumer Energy Resources (CER) connected to the system through one easy-to-use interface.

Many DNSPs only permit a single gateway device to interface with their networks, which can become a roadblock when legacy systems are already in place. With CATCH Power, that problem is solved — it becomes the sole approved gateway, allowing the site to meet DNSP compliance requirements while still integrating existing equipment.

Dynamic Environments

CATCH Control is your go-to solution for navigating dynamic and flexible energy requirements.

With built-in compliance for dynamic imports, CATCH Control ensures your system can adapt to ever-changing grid requirements.

CATCH Control provides the precision and reliability needed for optimal performance.

Our advanced capabilities allow for seamless integration with various inverters and energy resources, making it the ideal choice for installers in today’s flexible energy landscape.

Battery Controls

When CATCH Power acts as the energy meter for integrated inverters and batteries, it takes control of these assets through a sophisticated control loop, managing all Consumer Energy Resources (CER) connected to the device.

This integration enhances battery functionality, even allowing AC batteries to be installed on zero-export sites, By seeing battery state of charge and household loads we can ensure the inverter generates enough energy to cover the household loads and charge the battery while complying with DNSP Zero Export regulations.

CATCH Power's CER eco system offers full visibility and control over connected loads. When large loads like EV chargers and hot water systems can be excluded to prevent the battery discharging into these heavy loads.

Traditional solutions to these challenges required wiring these loads outside of the visibility of the battery. Which resulted in losing visibility of these loads.
With CATCH Control's approach we offer comprehensive monitoring of all loads via 'The Monocle'.

This approach also allows for homeowners to easily set additional charging cycles, pairing off peak energy plans with additional charging cycles.

Cloud Tethering

CATCH Control’s cloud tethering feature allows for export limiting of inverters over Wi-Fi, eliminating the need to trench a physical hard wire connection.

This capability allows installers to manage solar exports seamlessly across multiple inverters, even in complex setups.

In other cases, multiple devices can be required, depending on the individual site set up but this also offers the added benefit of monitoring sub-circuits individually and controlling multiple loads across the property.

By leveraging Cloud Tethered solutions, installers can significantly cut down on both materials and labor costs, making installations simpler, more efficient, and cost-effective, while still ensuring compliance with DNSP regulations

An Explanation of Dynamic EV Charge Control

Dynamic Exports and Imports refer to signals sent by your local DNSP to indicate the allowable amount of energy you can either send to the grid or import from it. These signals are crucial for protecting grid infrastructure and ensuring that grid assets are well maintained under varying loads.

Dynamic EV Charging is a smart charging system that communicated with your local DNSP to adjusts power levels in real-time based on grid demand. Dynamic Import Control allows your EV charger to adjust power intake dynamically. This means your charger will priorities solar power and adapt to grid conditions, ensuring efficient and reliable charging. This method allows real-time adjustments, enhanced communication, and user convenience.

In contrast non-compliant EV chargers MUST have a 'Ripple Control' device installed. This limits the DNSP's control to ON and OFF. You lose your ability to supplement your EV charging with Solar and Batteries, because the DNSP has cut the power supply to the charger completely.  EV Chargers that do not comply can be shut off without notice, making them unpredictable and this type of charging unreliable.
